NeoMarE

Neolithic Marine Resource Exploitation in Atlantic Europe

NeoMarE is an Irish Research Council funded project which aims to shed new light on how Neolithic farming communities adapted to the marginal coastal environments of north-west Europe, with a special focus on marine resource use and local responses to abrupt or adverse climate change.

To this end, the project applies a combination of high-resolution geoarchaeological and organic geochemistry techniques to coastal shell midden deposits under threat from erosion and climate change impacts.
